A heart-wrenching incident unfolded during the early hours of Wednesday when a Greyhound bus tragically collided with three stationary commercial vehicles on an exit ramp along Interstate 70. The catastrophic tragic crash resulted in the unfortunate loss of three lives aboard the bus, while state police report that at least 14 individuals suffered severe injuries.
The devastating accident occurred around 1:55 a.m. on the exit ramp leading to the westbound rest area in Silver Lake, located in Madison County. State police authorities provided these distressing details, shedding light on the tragic event that transpired.
In the aftermath of the collision, four of the injured victims were expeditiously airlifted to nearby hospitals via helicopters, while an additional ten were transported by ambulance. Astonishingly, none of the individuals occupying the commercial vehicles sustained any injuries, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.
Responding to the incident, Greyhound, in communication with CBS News, disclosed that the bus was en route from Indianapolis to St. Louis at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, the driver was among those hospitalized for necessary medical treatment. Lourdes Brown, the spokesperson for Greyhound, conveyed their utmost concern for the well-being of the passengers and the driver during this challenging period. Brown also emphasized the close collaboration with local authorities and assured that a relief bus had been dispatched to aid the affected passengers in this tragic occurrence.
